Tyson knocked out in fourth round
(FOXSports.com)
-
Beaten and battered, Tyson laid helplessly along the ropes Friday night, blood flowing down his face. The former baddest man on the planet stared ahead with a look of resignation on his face as his latest comeback - and perhaps his tumultuous career - collapsed with stunning suddenness. This song is over ... Iron Mike is no longer a contender. Yup, he has taken that one-way ticket to Palookaville. Now the scary thing is this: relatively speaking, he's still a young man; so what is he going to do with the rest of his life, now that his million-dollar paydays are over? A more tragic homage to exploitation could not be written: Mike Tyson's life in boxing.

'Frozen Ark' to save animal DNA
(BBC)
-
A tissue bank that will store genetic material from thousands of endangered animals has been set up in the UK.Follow me, here: but who's to say that the present that we're now embedded in didn't begin with a similar "scientific" event? I mean, come on, with our present-day technology, how can you even imagine a guy named Noah building an "ark" large enough to hold all the creatures of the planet, and keep them dry and fed? At a time when people didn't even have running water in their shabby homes and the words "skyscraper," "lightbulb" and "electronic" were still a tens of centuries away from discovery? On the other hand, it's very easy to imagine a large, meat-locker-sized fridge, holding microscopic genetic snapshots of every living beast we could find ... but I'm just saying, Neo: maybe this whole scenario has already happened once: save the planet by washing it clean. Reload the main program.

National security? WTF?Oh, that conformist, er, echo-chamberish, er,
sponge-meme-worthy, reflex that is: "political" blogging. A thought out loud: what are all these political bloggers going to do once the election is over? Will they all (hopefully) wait another couple of three or four years before they begin raining down upon us more cyber-textstream fusillades of sturm, drang, and misplaced angst? Or will they just shut t.f. up, while we more banal types blog things like: "What the the hell happened to the Yankees? I can't believe their payroll is now up to $300 million, just for the infielders!" Now come on, just admit it, you fashion-forward, Starbucks-sippin' muhf*ka: you care way more about pennant races than political races. That indifference was carefully bred and inculcated into your thinking over your lifetime. You better recognize.

Make The Pie Higher
(Guardian UK)
-
This "found poem" has been whizzing round the internet. It's a selection of genuine remarks made by Bush, arranged for aesthetic purposes by Richard Thompson of the Washington Post, and it has a fine, aethereal ring too. Some of the pungent images remind me slightly of The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock. Its random title is Make The Pie Higher.A-hah! This proves just how connected I really am to the collective hivemind called 'the blogoshpere': this story came out three! years ago, and I am now blogging it. I'm on colored peoples time yo! But the poem is some phunny sh*t!

Dashboard vs. Konfabulator
(Daring Fireball blog)
-
Dashboard vs. KonfabulatorThe Fireball lays this brouhaha to rest ... in my uneducated opinion. People seem to forget that Apple is a corporation and at the end of the day, they are only beholden to their shareholders, not to third-party developers. Some great points are made here. And in the end, greed is good ... relatively speaking.
