     2. A pool on when YouTube's bubble bursts...
        I don't know what's funnier -- sad funny, not ha-ha funny -- this dead pool, because you know YouTube is just going to implode under the sheer weight of videotaped human foolishness; or this dumb idea called viral video. People who watch these things say they're bored, but it's hard to tell which came first: boring, 2-minute Internet videos, or the boring people who watch them. At least the folks who make these videos are doing something creative with all this great technology. But is this what the Internet has come to? A sprawling wasteland of amateur home movies, full of goofy people dropping Mentos candies into diet soda bottles, or of terabytes of copyrighted music and video used without permission, or payment to the creators? Please make it stop.
