Was This Why Harold Got The Axe?
(Deadspin)
-
We can't say for sure why Harold Reynolds was fired from ESPN because ESPN hasn't put out a statement. This one is for hardcore baseball fans -- and fantasy baseball headz, like me -- but here's what's ironic (and sad) about this situation: ESPN's lack of comment. If this were some ballplayer who had allegedly harassed female colleagues, or had verbally assaulted superiors, allegedly, ESPN would have been running 24-hour updates on the story, based on nothing but rumor, innuendo, and bare splinters of truth. But when one of their own is accused and disciplined, we hear nothing, we see nothing. They'll say, the reporters aren't the story, but here's a guy who been a familiar face on ESPN -- on TV! -- for more than 10 years. And we hear nothing. Generally, the media is part of the problem, a big part.
