The Heat is on
(NBA.com: Finals 2006)
-
Congratulations to Shaq and his Miami Heat teammates, most notably, Dwayne Wade, for winning the NBA Championship. I've come to realize that the reason I became a Shaq-hater a few years ago -- I used to call him Whaq when he was with the Lakers -- really had nothing to do with him, and everything to do with his annoying, arrogant sidekick, Kobe, a great baller who's just unlikeable as a celebrity persona. Kobe's just too smug. Too condescending. Too unreal, at least as presented to us through the omnipresent media lens. Now that Shaq's been on the Heat for a few years, I've come to appreciate the value the big guy brings to the table, both as a baller and as an entertainer. Being a Knicks fan, I don't have much to celebrate when it comes to my own team, so to Shaq and the Heat, big props. A well-earned victory. And to Mark Cuban and the Mavs, you have a team that will contend for many more titles in the next 3-5 years. Don't worry, you'll get yours. Now, I wonder what Cuban has to say about getting hit with a $250K fine from the League for alleged comments about the League being rigged,", and what he really thinks about the series. I better check out his blog.
