Arizona businessman Reggie Fowler is close to becoming the NFL's first black owner after reaching an agreement to buy the Minnesota Vikings. A source within the league, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the deal, expected to be announced at a news conference Monday.

(I'll be following this one all day. It's about time. It's 2005, and we're still accomplishing firsts. WTF!

UPDATE: Deal done, pending league approval - McCombs sells team after seven years. The press is already taking a pessimistic tone: Fowler's own net worth is pegged at only $400 million, can he pull it off? This will be interesting to watch, but predictable.)
