How I became a stripper. Guardian Unlimited - Catlin Gunn describes herself as a nice, middle-class girl. She is also a stripper. Here she describes how she got started.

(Oldest profession? Hell, this is the oldest story! She's a classic character in Western fiction: the young woman with a heart of gold and faith in herself; she has hit rock bottom in her life, and the only way for her to beat the odds is to turn to the sex trade; but it won't change her, she will transform it ... and then some day go on to become Senator or something, yadda, yadda, yadda. Why? Because sex sells. From Moll Flanders to Pretty Woman to G-String Divas (warning: NC17-rated), it is a sad story, yeah, but it's so overtold. Yet, with a heart of gold.) « 7:38:59 PM »

Clean sweep for Republicans. Guardian Unlimited - George Bush scores a remarkable victory in the US mid-term elections.

(Well, theoretically, you'd assume that now that there's a majority, things will actually get done. Great big pork-barreled omnibus bills will get rubber stamped. And plenty of deals with be cut with all the lobbyists from Corporate. But the real problem is this: whatever this new majority pushes through in the next two years will take at least another four years to undo. Don't think so? Look at how much this administration has done in just two years!) « 7:31:04 PM »

Tech glitches don't mar Florida vote. News.com - A touch-screen machine sputters and some optical scanners fail, but officials credit computer technology with delivering the state's first smooth election in more than two years.

{Georgia, Georgia Florida, Florida, the whole Election day through ... Just an old sweet song ... keeps Georgia Florida on my mind.) « 6:55:08 PM »

Pitt Quits. Motley Fool.

(I just liked the complex rhyme scheme in the article's title: "Pitt Quits." I'd probably use "Quitts" instead, just for the symmetry. Oh, and by the way, Pitt's quitting is the first and (hopefully) won't be the last resignation from the pre-corroded ranks of this administration. They should all just quitt. « 6:50:44 PM »
